We help children like Richess complete their education

She is just one of thousands of students that Lessons for Life support in Africa

Richess, 14, was not attending school and instead was working in the market to support her family. A local community group supported by our Rwandan partner, Uyisenga N' Manzi (UNM) found her and helped her to return to school. In this short video she explains the difficulties she faced before she went back to school and what it means to her to have the opportunity to finish her schooling.

In Rwanda, 4 out of 5 children fail to complete their schooling. Her personal journey brings to life the impact your support has on helping boys and girls like Richess complete their education across Africa.

When I wasn't in school I would work in the market helping my mother from 5 in the morning until 10 in the evening. I used to be so jealous, but now coming to school has changed me."

One year on

We caught up with Richess to see how she was doing. She is attending school regulary and is doing very well, she recently recieved high results of over 70% last term.

Life at home is improving for her and her mother,  as her mother is working part time at a supermarket.

Richess has only four years left to complete secondary school and she still dreams of becoming a doctor.

"To me education means a healthy life", Richess
